Boy Scouts assisting Lions Club Medical Loan Closet project

When the winds were blowing and many were all huddled in their homes trying to keep warm, a group of Boy Scouts was hard at work enlarging and improving the Spencerport Lions Club Medical Loan Closet facilities. Their effort has been very instrumental in improving the capability and appearance of the facility, according to Mary M. Parkinson, chairman of the Spencerport Lions Medical Loan Closet project.

The scout that spearheaded the effort was Alex Rodriguez, who through this project has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Other scouts from Troop 165 assisted him. They are John Stoffel and Doug Hampton. The advisor on this project was Mike Nau.

This effort has aided the work in being a resource for the community whenever there is a need for medical equipment. This project required not only the realization that there was a need, but also to turn that realization into action. Alex Rodriguez, at a recent meeting of the Lions Club, presented a slide show, showing the before and after of this effort. "It was truly revealing what talent and dedication can be found in our youth. They deserve a good pat on the back from all of Ogden," Parkinson said.
