U.S. Coast Guard Academy application due

The United States Coast Guard Academy is accepting applications from high school seniors.

Early decision deadline for the Academy is November 1, and all applications must be submitted no later than January 31, 2004. Applications are submitted on-line only; go to www.cga.edu. No Congressional nominations are needed. Admittance is based solely on personal merit.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers nine majors: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Environmental Science, Operations Research and Computer Analysis, Government and Management. With a 1:8 faculty to student ratio, the Academy gives personal attention to each student.

A.I.M. (Academy Introductory Mission) Scholarship information is now being distributed to high school juniors who would like to apply for a one-week, first-hand experience to cadet life at the Coast Guard Academy in July 2004, a week of participating in the academic, physical fitness, boating, sports and seamanship of the Coast Guard Academy; a taste of military academy life, is offered. AIMsters are able to meet the coaches of the 18 Division III varsity sports in which the Coast Guard Academy participates.
