Chili Library sponsors "Food for Fines"

Chili Public Library is giving patrons the opportunity to cancel fines on their records by bringing in donations of non-perishable food and dry goods during the week of November 17-23. The library will cancel a fine for each item donated for the food pantry. This does not include lost material charges and accounts sent to the collection agency.

All donations will be given to the Grace Covenant food pantry on Chestnut Ridge Road in Chili on Monday, November 24.

This is a relatively painless way for patrons to clear their records of some accumulated overdue and hold fines and to help the community at the same time. Food pantries traditionally suffer shortages during the holiday season.

Especially needed are cereals, spaghetti sauce, canned meats, and peanut butter. Needed dry goods include paper towels and toilet paper.
