Hilton Board of Education
accepts superintendent retirement

Tuesday, November 18, the Hilton Board of Education voted (5-0) to accept the retirement of Superintendent of Schools John Cooper. "As we accept Dr. Cooper's retirement, we are reminded of his accomplishments in behalf of Hilton students, faculty and staff through the strategic plan and capital project," David Fisher, board president, said.

His official retirement date of January 1, 2004 will end his paid leave of absence that began October 14. In addition, the board appointed former East Irondequoit Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Josephine Kehoe, to the position of Interim Superintendent effective immediately. Dr. Kehoe has served in several capacities as interim superintendent since her retirement in 1998. "Dr. Kehoe is familiar with the Hilton school community," Fisher stated in a press release. "She served as interim superintendent from July 1999 to January 2000 and we are happy to have her back to assist us in this transition."
