"SOS: Saving Our Students" substance abuse prevention effort on December 2 agenda

The Hilton Central School District Board of Education, Athletic Department and administrators have begun to address issues in the district regarding prevention of substance abuse. A task force, "SOS: Saving Our Students" is in the process of being formed and is seeking volunteers. The charge for the task force is "to make recommendations to the Board of Education that, when implemented, would assure that students are making correct decisions regarding alcohol and drug use and partying."

At present, the task force is seeking volunteers form all sectors of the district staff, parents and the community. Students are included. An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, December 2, at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the Quest/West Avenue School, 225 West Avenue, Hilton.

Facilitators will be assessing the current situation and developing possible topics for subcommittees around the issue of drug and alcohol abuse.
