Ribbon cutting at Kendall's new Salt Storage Facility

A ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, November 22 at the Kendall Highway Department, 1776 Crandall Avenue, Kendall, celebrated the town's newly constructed Salt Storage Facility. This facility, possibly the tallest building in the hamlet, is the first of its kind in Orleans County, according to town officials. With the Kendall Highway Department staff playing a large role in its construction, the Town of Kendall saved taxpayers money by using their labor. It is 34 feet from ground to underside of the arc. Full size tractor trailers can back in and unload salt. Clarkson Highway Department assisted with a crane and Carlton Highway also provided assistance and manpower. What made the building's construction attractive to the town was the one month period to build it. It is a combination of concrete (pre-fab) and a coverall for the top. It is rated to withstand wind gusts up to 90 mph at ten-second intervals.
