Gabrielle F. Boley from Hilton and a student at Brockport High School has been selected for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars. The society invites only those students who have superior academic achievement and are among the top scholars in the nation. The announcement was made by NSHSS Honorary Chair Claes Nobel, a senior member of the Nobel Prize Family.

"I congratulate Gabrielle on this outstanding achievement and applaud the commitment to academic excellence," says Mr. Nobel. "The hard work and success of these exceptional young people will ensure a future generation dedicated to their communities and world betterment."

The National Society of High School Scholars was founded to recognize outstanding academic performance among high school students. Membership is by invitation only and includes valuable benefits for members such as scholarships, networking, events, publications, and other unique opportunities. As members prepare for college, the society encourages them to continue to strive for excellence in all their future endeavors.


Three Spencerport residents are scheduled to complete their baccalaureate studies in December at SUNY Oswego. The following local residents (with their academic major in parentheses) are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremonies: Abby R. Curatolo of Sheldon Drive (journalism, magna cum laude), Timothy F. Fowler of Village Walk Circle (biology) and Richard J. Simpson of Linda Lane (public relations).


Army Reserve Pvt. Jacob C. Ebel has graduated from the chaplain assistant advanced individual training course at the Chaplain School, Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina.

He earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. Ebel is the son of John J. and Laura M. Ebel of Lake Road East, Hamlin. His wife, Kathleen, is the daughter of Wayne C. and Kathleen B. Jarvis of Bennetts Corners Road, Holley.

The private is a 1999 graduate of a home school program in Hamlin.
