Meeting "Coqui" the kissable frog

Holley second-grader Rebecca Whitchendahl had an opportunity to meet "Coqui" the frog during a Young Audiences performance by Felix Pitre, who recently used puppetry, music, and storytelling to bring the culture of Latin America alive for Holley Elementary students. Students heard the story of Puerto Rico's folk hero, Juan Bobo, then after learning the origins of "LaBamba," they joined in singing the chorus. Pitre also led students in a tri-lingual (Spanish, English and sign language) rendition of "Pollito-Chicken." And then there was Coqui, who helped students understand and appreciate people who speak with different accents, and did steal a kiss from Rebecca in hopes of becoming a prince.
