Spencerport teams show they care

Athletic teams at Spencerport schools will be participating in a volunteer community service/charity project through its Spencerport Student-Athletes Care Program during the 2003-2004 school year.

This fall the Rangers varsity athletic teams have performed a variety of projects:

  • Boys Soccer - assisted with installation of mulch at the Canal View Elementary School Playground; donated $300 to SSBC.
  • Girls Soccer - assisted with Homecoming 2003.
  • Girls Swimming - conducted a canned food drive - donated to Food Link.
  • B/G Cross Country - sponsored and supervised Turkey Trot Run (one mile XC course) for SCS Elementary Schools grades 3 to 6 on November 21.
  • Girls Tennis - participated in Santa's Workshop at Alternatives for Battered Women.
  • Fall Cheerleading - participated in "Light the Night" walk for Leukemia.
  • Football - assisted with SSBC Toys for Sports Show, assisted HS Care Team with Red Ribbon Week, assisted with installation of mulch at the Canal View Elementary School Playground.
  • Boys Volleyball - assisted with Fall Festival at Springdale Farm.

The winter and spring athletic teams will also be performing volunteer activities during their seasons. The Spencerport Student-Athletes Care program won the 1994 National Award of Excellence for Community Relations from Athletic Management Magazine.
