Wal-Mart supporters hand in over 2,100 signatures

Brockport Residents Encouraging Commerce (BREC), a local group formed to support the Wal-Mart Supercenter application, recently handed in over 2,100 petition signatures to the Sweden Planning Board. The signatures were mostly gathered at the local Wal-Mart store, along with some volunteers who gained signatures from area residents.

"Our budget is increasing in Sweden so we need to start thinking about ways to bring in more tax dollars. The proposed Wal-Mart will generate tax revenue and create jobs. The vacated building can then filled with a tenant who can do the same. It is a 'win win' situation for Brockport," said John Egan, one of the pro Wal-Mart supporters.
