Hamlin offers $100 scholarships for DEC summer camp

The Department of Environmental Conservation is taking reservations for their educational summer programs. The DEC runs one week encampments for boys and girls ages 12 to 17 at three locations in the state. The programs vary to make use of the local attractions and include the bog at Rushford Lake, the great peaks near Saranac Lake and the mountain streams near Livingston Manor. All stress the wise use of natural resources.

The cost of each weekly program is $200. The Hamlin Conservation Board plans to give scholarships to Hamlin residents for half of the cost with parents responsible for the rest. To be considered for a scholarship, an application must be completed and returned to the Hamlin Town Hall by 4 p.m. January 23. Applications are available at the Hamlin Town Hall and from area school guidance offices.
