Cub Scouts bring holiday cheer to children in hospital

Cub Scouts from North Chili tried to bring some holiday cheer to children who were unable to be home for the holidays. Eleven scouts and adults, representing Cub Scout Pack 292, chartered by the Chili Lions Club, visited the Golisano Children's Hospital, Child Life Department, at Strong Memorial on Wednesday, December 17 to deliver handmade toys and gifts to children who were to be staying in the hospital during the holiday season. Each of the nine Cub Scout dens chose a different type of gift to make, and presented over 50 gifts to the hospital, including tree ornaments, handmade snow globes, ball and catch hand toys, along with some coloring and puzzle books.

Two representatives from the Children's Hospital, Christie Rinaudo, Child Life Specialist, and Jensen, a patient at the hospital, joined the pack during the gift presentation. According to Rinaudo, there were plans for around 60 children to be staying through January first.

Gifts for children in the local hospital is a annual tradition for Pack 292 and is meant to bring some joy to children during their stay at this time of year. The activity was part of Pack 292's 2003-2004 scout program for area youth.
