Jaime Lynn Scheg of Hilton received a bachelor of science degree in psychology at mid-year graduation ceremonies at Florida Southern College. She is the daughter of Daniel and Laurie Scheg.


Eric Steiner, of Cambridge Road, Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A second year student in RIT's School of Print Media, Steiner is studying graphic media.

The son of Lori and Chuck Steiner, he is a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.


Jill M. Evenski has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. Evenski is an F-16 radar test engineer assigned to the 28th Test Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, Florida.

She is the daughter of Edward J. and Joan B. Evenski of Green Road, Churchville.

Evenski graduated in 1996 from the Aquinas Institute, Rochester, and received a degree in the year 2000 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy.


Navy Lt. Paul R. Burkhart, son of Linda J. Wood of North Chili, and Robert H. Burkhart of Nelliston, NY, has returned from a routine six-month deployment to the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command area of responsibility, which includes the Caribbean Sea, Eastern Pacific and Southern Atlantic, while assigned to the destroyer USS Stump, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia.

During the deployment, Burkhart's ship participated in the seizure of $50 million worth of cocaine from a Colombian-flagged fishing vessel while conducting counterdrug operations in the Pacific Ocean.

Burkhart's ship is designed to provide a multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities and can operate independently or as part of a carrier strike group.

Burkhart is a 1985 graduate of Churchville Chili High School and joined the Navy in July 1985. He is a 1998 graduate of Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia with a bachelor of science degree.


Marine Corps Pvt. Mathew R. Fister, son of Deborah and David R. Fister of Brockport, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

Fister is a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School.
