Blue Devils netters top Saints

Churchville-Chili won the first game and had a 3-0 lead in the second before Brockport rallied to take three straight games and beat the Saints 18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 30-28 in girls volleyball.
In the second game, the Saints held a 5-3 lead before the Blue Devils had an 11-2 run to take a seven-point lead. The Saints rebounded for a 10-6 run of their own, but it came too late.

Churchville-Chili used a late rally in the third game to close an eight-point deficit to just two points at 24-22 before Brockport scored the game-winner.

In the fourth game, the Blue Devils led by as many as seven points before the Saints started to thwart potential Brockport points by playing great team defense. Consecutive kills by the Saints' Melissa Urban gave C-C a one-point lead at 24-23 before Brockport's Danielle LeBeau knocked down a kill to tie the game 24-24.

Both teams exchanged points until LeBeau was able to spike the ball giving Brockport a 29-28 lead and dink the ball over the front wall of the Saints winning the game and match.

Stacey Scott led all players with 13 kills for the Saints. She also added four blocks while Sarah Ann Strembenis had 11 kills and led with 16 digs. Urban had 15 digs to go with her nine kills and Erin Leonard dished out 36 assists to go with 14 digs. Rachel Smith led the Saints with five blocks.

LeBeau paced Brockport with 12 kills and 18 digs. Ashley Olsheski had 32 assists, five kills and three blocks, Jamie Hugelmaier had 12 digs and eight kills while Jackie Steubing led with five aces and eight kills.
