Two fire districts make history
with fire truck purchase plan

The North Greece and Lakeshore Fire Districts have entered into an agreement to purchase two identical fire trucks. Reasons for the joint agreement were: to save the taxpayers money in each district, and, to aid in the standardization of apparatus. Frequently, the mutual aid system places both districts assisting each other at emergency scenes; standardization will save lost moments looking for equipment.

This is the first time such an arrangement has been reached in Monroe County.

Over the last year, a committee consisting of both North Greece and Lake Shore District members developed a specification list, which meets the needs of both districts. This specification was sent out for bids, and awarded to Crimson Fire Truck Company in South Dakota.

The new pumpers will have four door cabs with seating for four firefighters. A 1500 gallon a minute pump will be mounted at the rear of the truck. A 500 gallon tank will provide water supply with 1200 feet of 5 inch supply hose. Large storage compartments will allow adequate storage for ladders, fire fighting tools, and EMS equipment. The trucks will be powered by a 330 hp engine.

Delivery of the trucks is scheduled for September 2004.
