The students whose names follow were named presidential scholars or named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at Clarkson University. Presidential scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average (GPA) and carry at least 14 credit hours. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

  • Scott J. Ellsworth, a senior majoring in marketing; son of Carol Ellsworth, Cedar Circle, Spencerport, dean's list.
  • Jacqueline M. Kesselring, a senior majoring in biomolecular science; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kesselring, Widger Road, Spencerport, dean's list.
  • James R. Schreiner, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering; son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Schreiner, Trimmer Road, Spencerport, dean's list.
  • Matthew C. Stafford, a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering; son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stafford, Kristin Drive, Rochester, presidential scholar.
  • Bradley F. Povelaites, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering; son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Povelaites, Whittier Road, Rochester, dean's list.

Eric M. Valentine, a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering at Clarkson University, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Valentine, Fairbanks Road, Churchville. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and carry at least 14 credit hours.


Several area residents have been named to honor rolls for the fall semester at SUNY Oswego.

On the Oswego president's list are Joseph Luciano of Greenridge Crescent in Hamlin, a junior technology education major; Adrianne M. Knapp of Post Avenue in Hilton, a sophomore studio art major; and Timothy F. Fowler of Village Walk Circle in Spencerport, a senior biology major.

On the deans' list are:

  • From Hamlin, Eric J. Chase of Greenridge Crescent, a sophomore technology education major.
  • From Hilton, Jason M. Barton of Clarkson Parma Townline Road, a junior secondary education major, and Russell S. Korn of Judd Lane, a senior secondary education major.
  • From North Chili, David W. Johnson of Parkway Drive in North Chili, a senior chemistry major.
  • From Spencerport, Abby R. Curatolo of Sheldon Drive, a senior journalism major.

Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the president's list, the top 5.8 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the deans' list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.


Kerri L. Slominski, 16, the daughter of Joe and Wilma Slominski of Spencerport, competed in Young Artist Voice Competitions held at Nazareth College and Geneseo College. She finished a semi-finalist at Nazareth and was awarded First Place at Geneseo. Slominksi is currently a junior at E.J. Wilson High School in Spencerport. She is the voice student of Cecile Saine at Eastman.


Timothy Scata of Parkhurst Drive, Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for the fall quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A fourth year student in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, Scata is studying Information Technology.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Scata, Sr., Parkhurst Drive, and a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School.
