Kristie Nagy, daughter of Gary and Karen Nagy of Spencerport, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Nazareth College. Nagy, a junior, is majoring in business education.

To be eligible for the dean's list a student must maintain a G.P.A. of at least 3.5.


Michael O'Laughlin was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at Clarkson University. O'Laughlin, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary engineering and management, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael O'Laughlin, Brockport.

Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 GPA and also carry at least 14 credit hours.


Matthew McGrath, of Clarkson-Parma Town Line Road, Hilton, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

McGrath is a junior majoring in public relations.

To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the semester.


David Robinson of Chappel Street, Brockport, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

Robinson is a sophomore majoring in newspaper.

To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the semester.


Hartwick College freshman Michael S. Andolina, of Rochester, son of Michael and Patricia Andolina, has been named to the fall term dean's list at Hartwick College.

Inclusion on Hartwick's dean's list is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale.

At Hartwick, Andolina has participated in men's varsity football.


The fall semester dean's list at Bryant College includes the following area resident: Megan Reising, a freshman, with an undeclared major, of Spencerport.


Local residents have been named to the dean's list at Canisius College for the fall 2003 semester:

  • Katie Boetcher, of Harwood Road, Spencerport, a senior communication studies major.
  • Daniel Surdyk, of Spencerport, a senior bioinformatics major.

A Monroe County resident has been awarded a $500 "Alumni Scholarship" to attend Alfred State College.

Zachary Deruyter of Spencerport is slated to graduate in 2004 from Spencerport High School and intends to enroll in the automotive trades-automotive service program.

The "Alumni Scholarship" is awarded to children and grandchildren of Alfred State alumni with an 83+ high school average. Awards are disbursed over four semesters provided scholarship requirements are fulfilled.


Jenna Stevens, daughter of Sharon and Thom Stevens, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list at the University of Notre Dame for outstanding scholarship during the fall semester.

The dean's list is comprised of students who have succeeded in maintaining a scholastic average of 3.600 and above during the past semester.

Stevens, a 2003 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, is a member of the University's First Year of Studies Program and is majoring in chemistry.


Kelly Schmidt, daughter of Kim and Patrick Schmidt of Ogden, has been placed on the dean's list at SUNY Brockport.

She is a sophomore, majoring in history.


Katrina Schmidt, daughter of Kim and Patrick Schmidt of Ogden, has been named to the fall 2003 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.

Schmidt, a junior, is an elementary education/special education major.

To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.


Trisha Kilbourn, daughter of Terry and Floy Kilbourn, Westside Drive, North Chili, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at SUNY Cortland.

She is a 2001 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and is majoring in special education - elementary level.


Nathan W. Thompson, son of Gary and Beverly Thompson of Parma, graduated from Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on December 10. The course consisted of instruction in artillery fire support, artillery fire direction and platoon leader operations.

He is a second lieutenant in the New York Army National Guard. He graduated from Hilton High School in 1998 and from SUNY College at Brockport in 2002.


Marine Corps Pvt. Felicia M. Kent, a 2003 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.


Marine Corps Pvt. Derek A. Muller, son of Theresa M. Wurst of Fairport, and Derek S. Muller of Hamlin, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.


Petty Officer 3rd Class Rachel J. Pazda of West Canon Drive, Chili, recently graduated from the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center in San Diego, California. She earned the distinction of Class Honor Person for her academic excellence. She has transferred to the Fleet and will soon be deployed.

She is the daughter of Tom and Susan Pazda and is a 2002 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School.
