BUM players
perform comedy

Since 1996, the BUM Players has delighted local audiences with their annual, full-length dessert-comedy. This year, on April 22, 23, 24 and 25, "Breakfast in Bed," a British comedy by Jack Popplewell, will be presented at the Brockport United Methodist Church. The play is set in 1957 in the small town of Brimley in the Yorkshire region of England.

Joseph Henderson and his daughter, Mary, hear from Joe's uncle, who had left England fifty years earlier. After a lifetime of gallivanting, Joe's uncle wants to spend his declining years with his family. After rampant rumors of the uncle's discoveries of gold and diamond mines, the rest of the extended family shows up, hoping to be favored by the allegedly wealthy uncle.

This sets up a comedy of misunderstandings and family feuds. The play will be at 7:30 p.m. on April 22, 23 and 24. On Sunday, April 25, a 2 p.m. matinee will be performed. For tickets call 637-0758. Tickets are $7 for general admission, $5 for seniors (65 years or older), and a family-rate maximum of $12 (one household).

John "Mack" McCarthy, who played Felix Unger in The BUM Players' "Odd Couple" is this year's director. Dave Odrzywolski, who portrayed the Waiter in last year's "The Madwoman of Chaillot," plays the lead role of Joe Henderson. His daughter, Mary, is played by Mary Ann Rutkowski. Joe's two sisters are portrayed by Ruth Anne Kuhn and Sadie Wilson. Joe's brothers-in-law are portrayed by Gary "Turk" Thomas and Charles "Chuck" Edwards. Dan Odrzywolski plays Joe's adopted nephew, Peter. Joe's uncles will be portrayed by Dave Hansen and Paul Kimball. Turk Thomas is also the show's technical director, and his wife, Debbie, along with Cheryl Codori, will coordinate the desserts which are included in the price of admission. Tickets may be available at the door. Reservations suggested.
