C-C senior wins RPO Young Artists Award

Jessie Lehman, a senior at Churchville-Chili Senior High School, competed in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) Young Artist Awards competition. This series of competitions is sponsored by the RPO and was held at the Eastman School of Music. At this competition, Jessie won the Devarian Award for top female vocal. She also won the $500 Jan DeGaetani Scholarship for top vocal competitor.

Later in the competition, Jessie competed for the Special Award which recognizes first place winners in five categories, female vocal, male vocal, piano, strings and orchestral instruments. Jessie was selected as the overall winner. As the winner of this special award, Jessie will perform with the RPO sometime this summer.

Jessie has performed in school and community musical theatre programs. Recently, she performed the leading role of Fiona in "Brigadoon," the Churchville-Chili Senior High School spring musical.

Her future plans include going to college, although her college choice is undecided. She was accepted at Eastman School and Roberts Wesleyan College for voice and music education.
