Holley music students participate in county music fest

Holley music teachers Jeffrey Galante, Amy Harris and Mary Elise Isler commended their students' excellent performances at two events in March that celebrated Music in Our School Month - the Orleans County Music Educators Solo and Ensemble Festival in Medina and the Orleans All County Music Festival in Kendall.

For the Solo and Ensemble Festival, each student prepares a piece of music, then performs it for a trained adjudicator, who gives the student ratings and constructive comments about the performance. The event is not a competition, but an opportunity to prepare a piece of music that is evaluated based on a fixed statewide standard. The students are also evaluated on scales and sight-reading, according to district officials.

Thefollowing students from the Holley Elementary Band participated: Aaron Ashbery, Aaron Bower, Anna Bower, Jessica Bower, Matt Cole, Taylor Crist, Jessica Dill, Barb Gallets, Melanie Gemerek, Mark Heath, Brent Kimbler, Kristen Paris, Michael Pernicano, Cortney Quaranto, Joshua Shenck, Corinne VanSchoick, Amber Ward and Amanda Wing.
