Help support the troops

With thousands of U.S. troops around the world, still actively engaged in Operation Enduring Freedom and the fight against terrorism, the Hamlin Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Explorer Post 730 is offering a way for individuals and corporations to let the nation's defenders know we haven't forgotten them. They are collecting items/monetary donations for support care packages and postage that will be delivered to service members participating in Operation Enduring Freedom. All of the donations go directly to the project.

Because of heightened security, packages labeled to "Any Service Member" can not be mailed. We are asking those in the community for names and addresses of their loved ones serving in any branch of the military and those people will be sent a care package, bringing them a touch of home. This project will continue as long as our country is at war.

This is a list of suggested items that can be sent. Remember that trial size or travel size items should be donated because personnel must carry them. Items include: black or green socks, pre-moistened wipes, Blistex, Chapstick, Vaseline and sunblock , toothpaste/toothbrushes, eye drops such as Visine®, deodorant, foot powder, gum, breath mints and hard candy such as Lifesavers®, shampoo/conditioner, hand sanitizer, soap/body wash, Q-Tips®, one and two gallon ziplock bags, feminine sanitary items, Tylenol®.

Drop off locations include the Hamlin Town Hall, Town Clerk's Office, 1658 Lake Road, Hamlin; Brockport Village Office, Village Clerk's Office, 49 State Street, Brockport; Clarkson Town Hall, Town Clerk's Office, 3710 Lake Road, Clarkson; Sweden Town Hall, Town Clerk's Office, 18 State Street, Brockport.
