Hometown Business Directory and Super Saver delivered this week

Included with this week’s issues of the Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald are two special publications prepared by the staff of Westside News Inc. -- the 8th edition of the Hometown Business Directory and the Spring Edition of the Super Saver.

First published in 1997, the Hometown Business Directory has been an important annual resource for both local businesses and the readers in the Westside News distribution area. “We have saved our advertisers lots of money over the eight years that we have been publishing the Hometown Business Directory,” Publisher Keith Ryan said. “It’s a tremendous resource for our readers, offering local maps, local school and government contact information as well as information on our local businesses. People love it!” Ryan added.

“A tremendous amount of effort is put into the production of all of our publications, but that’s especially so with the Hometown Business Directory,” Ryan said. “The state association, Free Community Papers of New York, has recognized the Hometown Business Directory during their annual awards meeting. Last year, the judges described it as having ‘extremely comprehensive content covering a wide category of information. Well organized (and) stays with you throughout the year.’ ”

Again this year, to promote the use of the Directory, Westside News will be printing four questions each week in the Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald as part of a year-long contest. The answers to the questions can only be found in the Hometown Business Directory. The culmination of the contest is the selection of a winner who receives a $600 credit from All Seasons Travel and Cruise Center in Brockport. The credit may be used towards any number of travel ideas. The winner of this year’s contest is named inside this week’s newspapers. Along with the grand prize, readers have a chance at monthly prizes of $100, $50, and $25 gift certificates, to be chosen from the display advertisers inside the Directory.

From now until April 24, 2005, use the 8th edition of the Directory delivered this week to answer the Escape Contest questions. Additional copies of the area’s most user friendly guide to area businesses are available at the Westside News Inc. offices, 1835 North Union Street, Spencerport, and at various drop-off locations.

“Please let our advertisers know that you saw their ad in the Directory -- that feedback is essential to helping our businesses understand the value of having their advertising message in the Directory each year,” Ryan said.

Super Saver now part of the package
The Spring Edition of the Super Saver can also be found inside this week’s issue of Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald. First introduced in November 2003, the Super Saver has quickly become another effective way for businesses to promote themselves to the loyal readership of the Westside News publications.

Every ad on every page is in full color and takes full advantage of the skill of the Westside News Inc. production staff. Winning awards year after year from the Free Community Papers of New York Association for its full color ad work, Westside News is confident that the Super Saver will be recognized in its own right as another first-class publication in the Westside News offerings. “The Spring Edition is only our third effort at the Super Saver and the reviews from local businesses have been excellent. Our next edition will appear in June,” Ryan said.

“In 2003, we celebrated 50 years of service to our communities by introducing a new product, receiving an award from FCPNY for our Hometown Business Directory and -- best yet -- THE award from FCPNY for ‘Best in New York State for Excellence in Publishing’. With all of this and a staff that is second to none, Westside News is poised to serve its vast readership and business communities now and well into the future,” the Westside News Inc. publisher and president said.
