National survey ranks RWC/NES
among best Christian workplaces

Teamwork and strong supervisor-employee relationships rank Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary among the "Best Christian Places to Work," according to a national survey released in April.

The 2004 Best Christian Places to Work survey, a project of Best Christian Workplaces Institute and "Christianity Today" magazine, seeks to recognize organizations with exceptional people practices, from among participating organizations, representing a variety of fields - including media and communications, missions and parachurch ministries, Christian businesses, schools, products and services. Roberts/Northeastern placed in the top four Christian colleges, universities and seminaries with more than 300 employees.

"Obviously, we are thrilled," said John A. Martin, president of Roberts and Northeastern, which scored highest in questions related to supervisory support and collaborative efforts within departments. To the statement, "I have fun at work," 91 percent of Roberts/Northeastern survey respondents "agreed" or "strongly agreed." "I'm not surprised that Roberts and Northeastern employees have fun at work," Martin said. "I have fun at work. And I also see the productivity that goes along with that. We also appreciate the valuable data we've obtained in this process. It's important to know where our employees stand on workplace issues. Some of the data affirms what we already knew: that Roberts and Northeastern have good people - talented people - who work well together. Seeing some of the softer areas identified, such as rewards and management, will help us focus our attention, time and resources on making this an even better place to be - for employees, as well as the students we serve."

Winners were selected by a panel of independent judges, based largely on employee responses to specially designed surveys. Of the 309 regular full- and part-time employees at Roberts/Northeastern, 220 completed surveys. Roberts/Northeastern will be recognized as a "Best Christian Place to Work" at a special awards ceremony during the annual Christian Management Association conference on April 26, and in the May issue of "Christianity Today."
