Anne M. Haight andAnn M. Rood, both Spencerport residents have completed a leadership program for nurses in senior management roles who aspire to become or remain leaders in the long-term care profession.

Haight is director of nursing at LeRoy Village Green Residential Health Care Facility Inc. in LeRoy.

Rood is director of nursing at Avon Nursing Home in Avon.

The Nurse Leadership Institute (NLI) was developed by the Foundation for Quality Care, a non-profit research and educational foundation affiliated with the New York State Health Facilities Association. The program, assisted by funds made available under New York State's Workforce Development Grants, provides college-level credits through the State University of New York Institute of Technology's (SUNYIT) School of Nursing and Health Systems in Utica.


Five local residents will be candidates for baccalaureate degrees at SUNY Oswego's 143rd Commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 15.

The following local residents (with their academic major in parentheses) are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremonies:

  • From Churchville, Aaron W. Kissel of Malloch road (technology education) and Rebecca A. Volta of King road (finance, cum laude).
  • From Hilton, Douglas J. Rivers of Post Avenue (trade subjects education).
  • From Spencerport, Bryan R. Murphy of Maplewood Avenue (business administration) and John C. Perry of Walnut Hill Drive (broadcasting and mass communication).

Students who graduate with honors are indicated by the traditional Latin phrases summa cum laude, with highest honor (grade averages of 3.8 to 4.0); magna cum laude, with great honor (grade averages of 3.6 to 3.79); and cum laude, with honor (grade averages of 3.30 to 3.59).


Michael Martone, a resident of Spencerport, has been appointed vice president of Healthcare Consulting. In his new role, Martone will provide direction and support for Providium's medical consulting practice, while fostering relationships with prospective and existing clients. He will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives in the healthcare consulting business, including client service models, sales and financial planning.

Martone helps clients and their employees understand the choices available to them in selecting the most cost-effective quality healthcare options.

Martone has more than 10 years of hands on experience in various corporate human resource positions that span several different industries, to include healthcare, manufacturing and technology.

He earned an M.P.A. from SUNY Brockport and a bachelor of arts degree from Roberts Wesleyan College. Providium Consulting Group, LLC is an employee benefit consulting firm, specializing in providing comprehensive benefit services to mid- and large-size employers. The company is based in Fairport.


Private William J. Rogers, a Clarkson resident, graduated from Marine Corps Combat Training in April 2004 in Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Rogers joined the Marine Corps in December 2003 after graduation from Brockport High School in June 2003. He is stationed at Camp Pendelton, California.


United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal David Graham, son of Christopher and Cindy Graham of Hamlin and a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School, graduated from the USMC School of Infantry training program at Camp Geiger, North Carolina in February. Since then, he has completed a rigorous and intensive eight-week urban combat training program conducted at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and March Air Force Base in San Bernadino, California. During this training, he received his meritorious promotion from Private First Class to Lance Corporal. This past month he also earned the title of Sharpshooter on the rifle range.

Graham is serving his country with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division based on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He is an assistant automatic rifleman in his fire team.


Air Force Staff Sgt. Amy M. Kingdollar has been named the airman of the year for the 60th Medical Operations Squadron for 2003.

Selection was based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, and other specific achievements and notable accomplishments.

Kingdollar is a mental health technician assigned to the 60th Medical Operations Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, California. She has three years of military service.

She is the daughter of Larry J. Kingdollar of South Fancher Road, Holley, and Margaret A. Giles of Albion. She is a 2000 graduate of Holley High School.
