Chili Senior Center programs

Fundraiser - The Chili Senior Center is selling the Passport to Savings book for the Spirit of Ontario fast ferry. The book, which includes numerous discounts for Rochester and Toronto, may be purchased for $25. The boarding pass, which is included in the book, can be redeemed for $25 off any trip fare (or $28 off an adult foot passenger fare). The books are available to the community. The Philadelphia "Mummers" in Elmira - a trip to see the Philadelphia Mummers in Elmira on Monday, June 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Trip includes transportation via a deluxe motorcoach; a sit-down luncheon at the historic Pierce's 1894 Restaurant, and admission to the matinee performance of the Ferko String Band featuring the elaborate costumes, music and songs of "The Mummers." Fast food stop (on your own) en route home. Anyone who needs any assistance must sign up with a senior companion. $55 for residents (age 55+). Massage - a licensed massage therapist twice a month. Appointments are being accepted for the second and last Thursday of every month. Appointments are either 15 or 30 minutes in length. First 15 minute intro appointment is $10; 15 minute appointment is $15, and a 30 minute appointment is $25. Gift certificates are available. To schedule an appointment, call 889-6185.

Chili Senior Golf Group - golf league on Mondays beginning May 3 at Churchville Golf Course. Tee time: 1 p.m. Nine holes are played. Both men and women invited. Purchase own greens fees. A senior pass (for those 62 and older) may be purchased at the pro shop. A tournament will be held at the end of the season. Call Art at 889-1232 for more information.

Summer Bowling - league meets on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning May 18 at AMF Olympic Bowl. Includes three games of bowling, shoe rental and coffee. Must provide own transportation. End of season chicken roast and clam bake. $6.25 per week. Call the center at 889-6185 to register.

Yoga - Thursdays, May 20 to July 1 from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Wear loose clothing and bring a beach towel, mat or small blanket. $20 (must register at least one week in advance). Minimum of seven people needed to run this program. For information, call 889-6185.

Lilac Festival - Senior Day - a trip to Highland Park for the Lilac Festival Wednesday, May 19. The bus leaves the center parking lot at 10 a.m. and returns at 2 p.m. Lunch on your own. $3. To register, stop by the center at 3235 Chili Avenue.

Golf Lessons - offered in conjunction with Chili Country Club, senior golf lessons on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, June 1 to June 24, from 9 to 10 a.m. $30 for eight classes. To register, stop by the senior center at 3235 Chili Avenue.

Spring Dinner Party - Friday, May 14. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner served at 6 p.m. Entertainment by the Johnny Matt Band. $10 per person. Call 889-6185 for information.

Weight Watchers - Weight Watchers session meets Friday mornings beginning May 21 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Minimum 15 people required. Cost for this 16 week session is $159. There is a discount for Preferred Care members. Call 889-6185 to register.

The Upside of Downsizing workshop - Thursday, May 13, 10 a.m. Hear positive reasons for making the move to a smaller residence in this workshop by Shirley Adams from Nothnagle Realtor's Senior Living Program. Free. Call 889-6185 to register.
