Monroe County senior citizens invited to trout derby

Monroe County residents, age 60 years and older are invited to participate in the annual Senior Citizen Trout Derby to be held Thursday, May 27 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at Powder Mills Park's Wadham Lodge, East Pavilion.

Participants must bring their own fishing equipment, and there will be a number of prizes awarded at the conclusion of the derby.

Group home facilities must bring with them a list of those planning to attend the derby, while all others can register at Powder Mills Park.

This event is co-sponsored by the Monroe County Department of Human and Health Services/Office for the Aging, the Monroe County Parks Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation.

As an extra incentive to participate in the Senior Citizen Annual Trout Derby, the New York State Department of Conservation has waived the fishing license requirement for this event.
