Booster group celebrates
Brockport athletes

The Brockport Basketball Booster Club hosted the 26th Annual Brockport High School Basketball Program Boys and Girls Banquet and Awards Dinner at Hickory Ridge Banquet Center in March. Booster President Tony Liccione said tremendous community support made the season very successful and recognized many individuals present who helped to make the season a huge success: Officers Jay Leasure, Lynn Fitzak, Patty Liccione, Bonnie Schweinfurth (concessions) Dr. Howard Ward (video and photography) to name a few.

Those receiving awards included:

  • JV Boys: Center Brandon Brechue was the Most Improved Player, Ryan Campbell was named the Most Valuable Player.
  • Varsity Boys: Ryan Shannon received the Scholar Athlete Award, Norm Manuel was the Most Improved Player and Tyler Mutton was the Most Valuable Player. Matt Ward received the Doug Westcott Award.
  • JV Girls: Rachel Popowych was the Most Improved Player and Andrea Leasure received the Coach's award.
  • Varsity Girls: Katie Lester was the Most Improved Player, Gabrielle Boley was the Most Improved Player, Jennifer Leasure was the recipient of the Katie Sweeting Award.

Bob Iveson served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening and was the recipient of the second annual Bill Corbin Award, presented by Brockport Basketball President Tony Liccione and Mrs. Pat Corbin.

Sweden Supervisor Buddy Lester introduced a new award in honor of his father, Nat "Bud" Lester Sr. This award was determined on the basis of a player's cumulative average of assists, steals and 3-point shots - guard play, in honor of the late Nat "Bud" Lester.

Also in March, the Brockport Basketball Booster Club held their annual election of officers for the 2004-05 year. Tony Liccione was elected president, Patty Liccione was elected vice president, Lynn Fitzak, secretary and Jay Leasure, as treasurer.
