Spencerport baseball splits

James Pozzuolo tossed a 3-hitter as Spencerport defeated Webster Thomas 8-1 followed one day later by an 11-3 loss to Greece Olympia.

Pozzuolo walked just one batter while striking out 12 in the Rangers' second win of the season.

Spencerport led in the second game 3-0 on a three-run homer by Keith Nobles in the first inning after a walk to P.J. Cowie and a single by Kevin Vragel to account for the Rangers scoring.

Olympia tied the game in the top of the second, took a 5-3 lead in the third and blew the game open with three more runs in the sixth.

Spencerport had loaded the bases in the fourth and the sixth innings, but could not score. Matt Miller pitched most of the second game, allowing five earned runs and striking out three.
