Free training to improve public safety

The County of Monroe, the Greater Rochester Red Cross and the Community of Monroe Citizen Corps - Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will conduct trainings every Tuesday, beginning May 25 through July 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Facility, 1100 Scottsville Road, Rochester. This training is free and open to the public.

Each participant will receive 24 hours of training in: disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, disaster medical operations (Part I & II), light search and rescue, CPR and AED, disaster psychology and team organization.

This training will help people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. As a CERT member, when emergencies happen, a trainee can give critical support as the first responder, providing immediate assistance to victims, and organize volunteers at a disaster site.
