Edward P. Rowe

Troop 90 scout earns Eagle rank

Boy Scout Troop 90 held a Court of Honor on March 30, to recognize Edward P. Rowe for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Friends and family were in attendance at the First Baptist Church in Chili to see Rowe receive the highest award in Boy Scouting.

Rowe was escorted to the front of the church along the Eagle Trail by Eagle Scouts Tim Boerschlein and Bill Rowe. Star Scout Adam Thomas was Master of Ceremony. Reverend Ken Dean led the invocation. Opening remarks were made by Donna Bostick. Scoutmaster Keith Wimer rededicated the Scout Oath and then declared Rowe an Eagle Scout. Assistant Scoutmaster Al Volkmuth was the guest speaker.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn 21 merit badges, hold leadership positions within the troop, and complete an approved community service project. Rowe has earned 41 merit badges since joining Troop 90 in 1996, and is presently an assistant leader for his troop. To fulfill his Eagle requirements, Rowe led a group of scouts and adults to complete a project to landscape existing Welcome to Churchville signs. Rowe, 18, will graduate from Churchville-Chili High School in June. He is a member of the National Honor Society and president of the school band. Rowe plans on attending SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse this September. His parents are Pat and Tim Rowe. He has two older siblings and lives in Riga with his family.
