The following students have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester at Nazareth College. Laurence Bish, North Chili

  • Carrie Brown, Brockport.

Students named to the dean's list must be enrolled full time and must earn a grade point index of 3.5 or higher for the semester.


Kelly Stevens, a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, was named the outstanding female athlete for 2003-04 at Oneonta State College.

According to a college publication, "Stevens will leave a lasting legacy in two sports when she graduates. She was a two-year captain of the women's soccer team and helped lead them to the college's first team national championship last fall along with being an All-American performer in the sport of track and field. Stevens was a four-year starter for the women's soccer team and was honored for her play on the field and in the classroom. She holds every record for indoor and outdoor track from the 800-meter run to the 1,500-meter run and in between. She is a two-time SUNYAC champion in both indoor and outdoor track and field and this past winter earned All-America honors in the 800 and the distance medley relay."


Katie Sereika, a Bishop Kearney senior, was awarded a 2004 Best Buy scholarship. The Best Buy scholarship is awarded to students who volunteer time to their communities, excel in academics, participate in extra curricular activities, and are entering or attending an accredited U.S. university, college or technical school.

Sereika is president of the National Honor Society, a school Ambassador, has starred in several musicals, and played varsity soccer and basketball. She will attend SUNY Fredonia next year to major in musical theatre.


Lisa Fitzsimmons of Churchville, a 2003 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, has achieved the dean's list status with a 3.60 GPA for the spring semester at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. She is a freshman accounting major and the daughter of Tom and Sharon Fitzsimmons of Churchville.

Amy Fitzsimmons of Churchville, a 2001 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, has achieved the dean's list status with a 3.55 GPA for the spring semester at College Misericordia, Dallas, Pennsylvania. She is an education major and also competes on the varsity swim team.

She is the daughter of Tom and Sharon Fitzsimmons of Churchville.


Jeffrey C. Povelaites, a resident of Rochester, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Alfred University. He is a senior in the School of Engineering. Students must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average to qualify for dean's list.

Povelaites is a ceramic engineering major at Alfred University.

A graduate of Aquinas Institute Rochester, Povelaites is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Povelaites of Rochester.


Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Melissa A. Poduslo has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

She is the daughter of Susan Poduslo of Woodside Court, Holley and a 2003 graduate of Holley High School.


Air Force Airman Joshua C. Leibert has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Leibert's parents are Eric and Tammy Leibert of Constitution Circle, Rochester.


Air Force Airman 1st Class Brandon W. Piper has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Piper is the son of Linda Piper of Hojack Drive, Hamlin and a 2002 graduate of Brockport High School.


Air Force Airman Bryan M. Harrison has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Harrison is the son of Michael Harrison of Bankside Drive, Hamlin. He is a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School.
