Kendall sixth-graders Donnie Robinson (front) and Mark Stiegler, members of the "Probe Team," program and build a probe, which was launched successfully onto the surface of Mars from the Challenger Learning Center at the Strasenburgh Planetarium. The probe was used to determine a good site for building the next colony on the Red Planet. Kendall sixth-graders recently spent the day at the Challenger Learning Center, part of the world's first interactive space science education network. The project was created after the 1986 Challenger space shuttle tragedy, by the families of the seven Challenger astronauts, to carry on their mission: to explore and teach.
