Roberts Wesleyan SIFE team
makes top 20 at national championship

The Robert Wesleyan College chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (RWC-SIFE) competed at the National Championship at the World Competition SIFE USA National Exposition in Kansas City, May 23-25. The RWC-SIFE team was one of more than 180 SIFE Teams from across the nation competing at the 2004 SIFE USA National Exposition hosted by the Kansas City Business Community.

The RWC-SIFE team won in the opening round of their league placing them in the top 20 of the four-year university division. Members of the team are: James Walker (SIFE president), Stephen Rapp, Benjamin Hollamby, Aaron Callahan, Daniel Thall, David Buskey, Jesse Wilson, Mwongeli Mutua, Alissa Fox, Lindsay Papa, Sylvia Lopez, Stephanie Hares, Michelle Pandian, Paul Owens, Russell Toth (SIFE and RWC alumni), and Dr. Ervin Starr (SIFE fellow).

"I am extremely proud of the impact that RWC-SIFE has had in the Rochester community and throughout the world and of the recognition that our students and faculty have received for their efforts," said Steve Bovee, RWC Division Chair/Associate Professor of Business. "We remain committed to spreading hope and opportunity through faith, entrepreneurship and free enterprise. This is just the beginning."

Originally established on campus in 2000, RWC-SIFE has touched the Rochester community this year in several ways, including the Women of Hope Business Camp, Teen Biz, and Vision Makers. RWC-SIFE has also sparked entrepreneurship in other parts of the world. In Theethipalayam, India, RWC-SIFE has helped launch a public library, a tailoring school, and a micro-dairy farm.
