Hilton-Parma Recreation
releases summer program brochure

The Hilton Parma Recreation Department has released its summer program brochure with registration opening on Monday, June 7. Brochures have already been distributed through the school district and are also available at the Parma Public Library, Parma Town Hall and the Village Community Center at 59 Henry Street.

Among events planned is a family favorite, "Park It In Parma" Summer Celebration that is set for Saturday, August 7. The main entertainment is the band, BOYS LIE, and a fireworks display is planned. Participants can bring a tent or camper and plan on spending the night, but space is limited. This community celebration involves the whole family and it's free.

The summer playground program is available for pre-schoolers up to 7th grade. This program will be held at the Quest school for six weeks. It is available for all six or any week chosen.

Several youth programs will be available along with a large number of sport-related camps. The line-up includes a Youth Golf League, Girls' Softball, Babysitter Training Workshop, Horseback Riding, Target Archery, Karate, Golf Lessons, Spanish Lessons, Baton and Summer Band. New programs include Kayaking, Cartooning, Science Camp, Safe at Home and a Music Camp.

Adult programs being offered include golf lessons, karate, target archery, Yoga, kayaking, T'ai Chi, tennis lessons and an Outlet Shopping Day Trip. A local golf tournament, "Fairway to the Future," will be held on June 26 at Brockport Country Club, with proceeds going towards future facilities. The deadline to sign up for this tournament is June 11. Also available and new this year are amusement park tickets to some local and popular amusement parks. Call for information.

For senior citizens, there are a few summer day trips planned. Locations include a Dinner Theatre at the Medina Stone Farm and Showboat in Auburn. The Senior Center also has their on-going lunches and activities on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday continues to be the shopping and lunch trip day. Upcoming picnics are planned on Thursday, July 22 at the Parma Town Hall and on Monday, August 16 at Hamlin Beach. Call Hilton-Parma Recreation at 392-9030 for information.
