Interact Club lends many helping hands

Hilton High School's Interact Club has only been in existence for a few years, but its members are enthusiastic for service. Linked to Rotary International, Interact is advised by Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Helaine Donn, who is a Rotarian, and Hilton Rotarians Al Alton and Judy Nesbitt. Students meet to strategize ways to make themselves available to help wherever possible. They have participated in walks for Breast Cancer and Alzheimer's as well as the Day of Caring by cleaning Hilton-Parma Recreation's senior citizen buses.

The students enjoy working with the community and have volunteered at the annual H.C.S.T.A. Scholarship Fun Night and at Hilton-Parma Senior Center events. In addition, the club sold lollipops and raised funds to purchase a medicine refrigerator for the Rotary's Camp Haccomo for disabled children.

"It's great working with the kids," Donn said. "They're very enthusiastic." Club members sometimes get together for social activities including bowling parties and other events.
