Lakeside Beikirch Care Center adds elevator

Lakeside Beikirch Care Center celebrated the official opening of its second elevator with a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 26. Residents, employees and members of the community who contributed to the project were invited to celebrate this very welcomed addition to the Care Center. In attendance were several LBCC residents, including Bertha Nowak who was accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law, Leo and Donna Nowak.

Bertha was chosen to officially cut the ribbon in special recognition of her generous support of the project. Bertha has been a resident at Lakeside Beikirch since May 2001.

"The addition of this new elevator has been a priority since I joined Lakeside, we are grateful to our residents, employees, administration, board members and the community who generously supported this project," state Michael Perry, senior vice president of Long Term Care. The addition of this elevator alleviates the waiting for residents and staff. Ninety-five percent of Lakeside Beikirch residents are wheelchair bound, so the second elevator is greatly appreciated by recreation staff that transport residents to activities held on various floors.

Lakeside Beikirch resident Perry Cornell is also grateful. "The new elevator eliminates the long hold up. My two daughters come every weekend to visit me. They're also pleased with the added convenience and speed," Cornell said.
