Local women win gold
for the third time

Two local women, Gloria Miller of Greece and Millie Gianfagna of Brockport, won the gold medal for the third year in a row in the 75-80 doubles bracket at the 2004 Empire State Senior Games held June 8-12 at SUNY Cortland. The two women are now known as the "Golden Girls" by their fellow members of the Salmon Creek Country Club Women's Tennis League where they have been playing tennis in the Salmon Creek League several times a week for many years. The pair's gold medal performance at the Empire State Games this year has earned them the right to compete in the National Senior Games scheduled to be held next summer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Miller and Gianfagna, who have medaled in previous Senior Games at Syracuse University and SUNY Cortland, attended the National Senior Games several years ago in San Antonio, Texas.
