Lakeside Child Care benefits from 'Penny Power'

Since 1999 Lakeside Child Care has benefited from the generosity of the Penny Power project through Buckman's Car Wash. This year Lakeside received $2005.57. Jeff Gold, owner and president, Paul Grugnale, general manager and Christine Kretchmer, marketing manager, visited Lakeside Child Care to present the gift to Nicole Struble, director of Lakeside Child Care and Michael Perry, senior vice president of Long Term Care Services.

During 2003, customers at Buckman's Car Wash were asked to donate any change they receive from their car wash, or more, to the Penny Power project. Customer contributions are supplemented with corporate sponsorship from HSBC Bank and Buckman's Car Wash. The funds are then donated to non-profit agencies that provide educational and support services to children, youth and families in the Western New York area. "Customers are great. Many donate more than just their change. When everybody gives a little bit, it amounts to a lot," Grugnale said. Buckman's has been supporting Lakeside Child Care since May 1999, donating $10,172.57 to benefit the care center. Since its inception, the Penny Power project has donated $56,444.48.

"We truly appreciate Buckman's support. Donations through the Penny Power project have helped us enhance services to our children. They have been great friends of Lakeside Child Care," stated Struble. "Past contributions have been used to purchase educational materials to enhance learning experiences and staff training to maintain the expertise of our care givers."
