Canal View cares
for the troops

Spencerport's newest school, Canal View Elementary, successfully completed its first school-wide community service project, "Canal View Cares." During a month-long period, students donated items, approved by the Red Cross, to be sent to specific U.S. Army units serving in Iraq. The response was overwhelming, and over 60 shoe box-sized packages were mailed during the last week of school. The postage was earned by students, parents and staff at a car wash on Saturday, June 12. Fifth grade students Samantha Maida, Timothy Bourne and Joe Inzana are pictured with some of the wrapped packages. They are in Mrs. Lippa-Slusar's homeroom.
