Patrick Curran of Greece has been named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in RIT's College of Science, Curran is studying honors mathematics. He is the son of Mike and Laurie Curran of Greece and is a 2003 graduate of Hilton High School.


SUNY Oswego has announced the following students have received scholarships: from Churchville, Daniel P. Ivancic; and from Spencerport, Laura C. Bianchi and Diana L. Rombola.


Spring Arbor University is pleased to announce the following students were named to the spring 2004 dean's list: Renee Green of Spencerport. She is a senior majoring in English. Green is the daughter of Darrell and Susan Burke. Joshua Johnson of North Chili. He is a junior majoring in mathematics and is the son of Floyd and Sandra Johnson.


Benjamin Plucknette, a student at Daemen College, is the recipient of a scholarship awarded by U.F.C.W. District Union Local One. Plucknette is a Spencerport resident.


Kerri Slominski, daughter of Joe and Wilma Slominski of Spencerport, was awarded the Harold Schwab Scholarship and a Certificate of Merit for her work at the Eastman Community School.

Slominski has maintained A's in all of her classes and is working towards a preparatory diploma in voice. The awards were presented at a ceremony held in Kilbourn Hall in June. Slominski also won second place at the Rochester Equinox Symphony Orchestra Young Artist's Competition in May.

She is the voice student of Cecile Saine, and will be a senior this fall at Spencerport High School.


Gregory Gerard Schwind of Hilton, son of Daniel and Cheryl Schwind, has been selected by Morrisville State College as one of the country's most outstanding campus leaders by "Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges."

A campus nomination committee and editors of this publication have included his name in the 2004 directory of outstanding students. This honor is awarded to students who display outstanding achievements, not only in scholarly endeavors but also participate and exercise leadership in extracurricular activities.


Shelby Clark of Hamlin and Jessica Sweeney of Hilton are recipients of the Harper Scholarship Award for the 2003-2004 academic year.

Each year the scholarship provided by Ralph S. Harper of Rochester is awarded to two outstanding 4-H seniors who exemplify the values of 4-H achievement, leadership, citizenship and service. The awards were presented July 16 at a celebration recognizing the 40th anniversary of the scholarship and the 90th birthday of Ralph Harper.


SUNY Oswego has awarded $17,600 Presidential Scholarships to three local residents: They are Dustin J. Goodwin of Hilton, Robert M. Johnson of North Chili and Sara A. Catlin of Spencerport.

All of the scholarship recipients have reserved a place in Oswego's incoming freshman class for the fall semester.


Jessica L. Arno of Kendall received a $17,600 Presidential Scholarship to SUNY Oswego. The award recognizes past academic achievement and potential for success.

Arno has reserved a place in the incoming freshman class for the fall semester.


Janet Campbell has been awarded top sales of 1.4 million, top producer and highest sales for the month of March at the Spencerport Nothnagle office, according to Dan Head, manager. She has also been awarded top sales of 1.6 million and top producer for the month of May. She is a member of the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors and has received several additional awards throughout her career in real estate.

Campbell has been selling real estate since 1986, has the designation of Broker Associate and is a recipient of the Nothnagle Top 25 Club Award. She specializes in existing home sales and represents ENF Builders, Ed and Mike Fuierer in new construction with subdivisions in Churchville (Taylor Farms) and Parma (Gails Trail).


SSgt. David G. Colucci, a former Greece resident and a graduate of Spencerport High School, was wounded in action in the conflict in Afghanistan. Following surgery, he is recovering at his home in North Carolina. SSgt. Colucci is a member of the Army's Special Forces, Green Beret, serving in Afghanistan.

SSgt. Colucci is married to Angela Elliott and is the son of John and Margaret Colucci of Greece.


Navy Ensign David A. Hunt, son of Lynda S. and William A. Hunt of Rochester, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and was commissioned to his current rank in the United States Navy.

Hunt is a 2000 graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School of Rochester.


Air Force Captain Keith P. Rockow has been assigned to the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas. The Thunderbird Squadron performs more than 88 air shows each year, and more than 280 million spectators in all 50 U.S. states have viewed the red, white and blue jets fly in solo routines and flight formations.

Rockow, a flight commander and instructor pilot, is assigned to the 14th Fighter Squadron, Misawa Air Base, Japan. He is the son of Duane A. and Cherie K. Rockow of Hamlin and is a 1992 graduate of Brockport Central High School.
