Salvation Army honors Hilton service unit
The Hilton Service Unit has been named The Salvation Army's Service Unit Group of the Year for the Empire State Division. The award was presented to Dave Goodrich, chairman of the service unit, by The Salvation Army's Divisional Commander, Lt. Col. Norman E. Wood. The awards reception was held in Cooperstown and brought together volunteers from around the Empire State Division, which covers 48 Upstate New York counties. more

The Salvation Army names volunteer of the year

Holley Board of Education approves PILOT agreement
At a regular meeting held Tuesday, July 6, the Holley Central School Board gave its consent to a payment in lieu of tax agreement that would provide additional tax revenue to the school district and provide funds to install a sewer main from Cadbury Way running to the southwest corner of Piedimonte Drive in the Holley Business Park. more

42 area athletes and coaches take part in Empire State games
Western Monroe County and eastern Orleans and Genesee counties sent 41 athletes to the annual Empire State Games July 28-August 1 in Binghamton. From the number of players on team rosters, soccer and wrestling are represented the strongest with nine and eight athletes, respectively. more

After missing four of the first five cuts of her first professional year on the LPGA Futures Tour, Spencerport and Auburn University graduate Danielle Downey picked up her first pro win at the Lima Memorial Hospital Futures Golf Classic in Lima, Ohio in mid-June. more
