Family reunion gathers many at Trimmer Road homestead

A large crowd gathered on Trimmer Road in Spencerport Saturday, August 7 for the Popowich Family Reunion. Kathy Miller, one of the organizers, says her grandparents were immigrants from Ukraine who came to the United States around 1914. They settled on Trimmer Road in Spencerport on 25 acres which they farmed. They had five children, three who are living. One daughter, Pauline, and her husband, Frank, live in the homestead and Miller lives next door to her parents.

The Popowich children attended grammar school in the nearby building now home to the American Legion Ferris Goodridge Post. When they graduated from that school, they walked to high school in Spencerport village.

The Popowich reunion was held at the old farm on Trimmer Road in Ogden. According to Kathy Miller, "This is the first time the family has gotten together in about eight years. We celebrated our fifth generation of births last year." Photograph by Walter Horylev.
