Genesee, Orleans counties
receive grants to support arts programs

Three grants totaling nearly $120,000 have been awarded to the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council. The grants are being administered through the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support local arts and cultural programs and the day-to-day operations of the Arts Council.

Assemblyman Charles Nesbitt (139th District) said, "The New York State Council on the Arts has always provided New Yorkers with a wealth of opportunities to participate in programs or enjoy local, state and world renowned artists. The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council has gone a long way in ensuring the residents of these two counties are able to enjoy those benefits as well. I am pleased to announce these grants to help them continue their excellent work in providing these services."

Linda Blanchet, executive director of the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council, said, "We are delighted that the legislature recognizes the importance of arts and culture, particularly in our rural communities. We appreciate their efforts in getting this funding to NYSCA which benefits not just the artist and local cultural organizations but the entire community."

The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council funding includes:

  • A $57,500 decentralization grant to fund regrants for community-oriented cultural programs administered through the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council;
  • A $28,100 folk arts grant to fund regional and county folk art programs and
  • A $34,000 state and local partnership grant to support general operations of the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council.
