Hunting Education classes scheduled

The schedule for sportsmen education classes to be held in Monroe County was announced by Assemblyman Bill Reilich's office. All new hunters and trappers must pass the appropriate course before qualifying for their first license.

Students must attend all sessions and pass a test to obtain their hunting licenses. To hunt big game with bow and arrow, a special bow hunting course is required, in addition to the basic hunter education course.

"This is a great opportunity to learn the safety skills needed for a safe and enjoyable hunting season," Reilich said. "I urge all those who want to hunt this year to sign up for this course."

Trained instructors certified by the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) teach the sportsmen education classes. All courses are free of charge, but space is limited.
