More than 4,600 ducks were released into the Erie Canal in Brockport for the Duck Derby, a part of the Brockport Summer Art Festival. The crowd of duck "owners" cheered on their ducks as they raced to the finish line. Preliminary figures estimate proceeds from the Derby at $24,000, to be evenly split between derby sponsors Brockport Integrated Service and Community Organization (BISCO) and Lakeside Memorial Hospital.

"The high level of support received from the community is remarkable," stated Gary Zimmer, BISCO President. "We sincerely appreciate the support of so many area businesses that either sponsored the event or donated these great prizes. Their support shows the commitment they have to this great community," Zimmer said.

The ten winners of this year's duck derby are: Kelly Lewis - King for a Day, Sue Alexander - $600 travel package, James Wood - $600 The Bon Ton Shopping Spree, Sara Missell - sports package, Country Pet Grooming - Lakeside Annual Dinner table, Holley Rotary Club - Queen for a Day, Richard Pilon - $400 travel package, Lou Pereira - car maintenance package, Colleen Coltoniak - $1,000 travel package, Brian Sulimowicz - TRS Pool package.
