Pop top monies benefit Lakeside

The ongoing "Pop Your Tops for Lakeside" drive raised $155.70 from the sale of 519 pounds of pop can tops. Lyell Metalico gave a matching donation of $150 making the grand total received $305.70. Rob Damico, buyer for the company, said making the donation "seemed like a good thing to do." One notable donation was from Richard and Jerry Haynes of Portageville, New York who collected a total of 147,000 tops over the last year on their travels across America. This is the second year that the Haynes have made this donation. All proceeds are given to Lakeside Twig Association who in turn donates the funds to the hospital for the ongoing purchase of medical equipment. Lakeside encourages the community to save the pop and beer can tabs for recycling.
