Lions Club of Chili celebrates 40 years

On Saturday, September 25, 2004, the Lions of Chili will celebrate 40 years of service to their community, which includes the town of Chili.

For 10 decades, the Free Medical Loan Closet has provided help to the members of the local community by supplying equipment ranging from hospital beds and wheel chairs to four-legged canes. The thousands of used eyeglasses collected by the Lions have provided vision to needy people in the Third World, while the annual Christmas Baskets program has put joy on many tables during the holidays. Many people have received eye examinations, eye glasses, hearing tests and hearing aids or have been furnished with guide dogs.

Camp Abilities in Brockport, for blind students, the School for the Blind in Batavia and the Empire State Speech and Hearing Clinic (Camp Badger), received the regular support of the Chili Lions, and their participation in Sight First - an international project - has contributed to help prevent and cure eye diseases.

The celebration will take place at The Mug in Chili. The keynote speaker will be Past International Director Lion John Rabideau, of Churchville.
