Orleans DAR receives $10,000 grant

Assembly Republican Leader Charles H. Nesbitt announced the awarding of a grant for the Orleans County of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The $10,000 grant will be used by DAR to continue restoration efforts on the nearly 160-year-old building that houses the organization.

"I am pleased to be able to secure these funds for the Daughters of the American Revolution to help them preserve their stately Chapter House," Nesbitt (139th District) said. "The DAR has a proud tradition of patriotism, historic preservation and exceptional education programs. It is only fitting that we make this announcement as we prepare to celebrate the anniversary of the Constitution."

The house occupied by the Orleans County DAR is also home of a museum and genealogical library open to the public. Built in 1845, it was designated a National Historic Site in 2002. The grant money will be used to paint and repair the exterior features of the home. The home is located in the Village of Albion.
