Celebrate fall at Springdale Farm's Scarecrow Festival

Springdale Farm will celebrate fall with a Scarecrow Festival on Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Springdale Farm will be full of autumn adventures such as scarecrow displays, pumpkin picking and painting, a corn play bin, hay mazes, houses and needle in the haystack contests, children's crafts, face painting, the petting zoo in addition to wagon and mini-horse carriage rides (weather permitting). There will be a scarecrow or fall-themed attire Costume Contest held at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for three age ranges: infants to five years, six to 11 years and 12 or over. Author Robin Pulver will be on site signing her children's books as storytellers read her tales. Apples, cider, donuts and dried flowers plus additional concessions will be available for purchase. Tours of the new Riedman Robotic Milking Center will be included in festival admission. The state-of-the art dairy barn is the first of its kind in the Northeast to offer visitors the opportunity to observe cows being milked of their own free will. The cost of festival admission is $5 per carload.
