SUNY Brockport elects officers, board members

A total of 12 Brockport, Hamlin and Hilton residents have been elected to positions in the SUNY College at Brockport Alumni Association.

Rob Blair, a 2000 graduate of SUNY College at Brockport, was elected president of the Brockport Alumni Association (BAA) at a board meeting in July. It is a two-year term that will run until July 2006. Blair, assistant director of campus life at the college, has been active with the college's alumni activities since his graduation. Chair of the Student Liaison Committee, the former Brockport Student Government president is active within the Brockport Chapter of Rotary International. He is a resident of Hamlin.

Joining Blair on the BAA's Executive Council will be immediate past president, George Rich '54. Members-at-large on the council will be Mary Brei Duryea '64, Carolyn Miller '83. All three are Brockport residents.

Additionally, four area alumni were added to the board for three-year terms. They are: Cathy Appleby '75 the principal mail and supply clerk for all mailing services at SUNY Brockport. She is a Brockport resident; Mark Ball '98 is the director of marketing and public relations at Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester. He lives in Hilton; Pauline Tung Johnson '77/'81 is the deputy district clerk and records management officer for the Brockport Central School District. She is a Brockport resident; and Dan Stinebiser '76 is a retired teacher from the LeRoy School District. He is a Brockport resident.

Four members, all from Brockport, were re-elected to the board: Donald Murray '69 is associate professor of Physical Education and Sport at Brockport and coach of Brockport's wrestling team; Karen Owen '87/'91 has been on the Alumni Board since 1998 and serves on the Communication Committee; Harriet Sisson '85 has been on the Alumni Board since 1998; and Gary Sullivan '80 is an investigator for the City of Rochester Police Department where he received a Life Saving Award in 1989 and the Officer of the Month award in both 1988 and 1997.
